Misty Cantera Opal Ring

A large, deep dusty rose Cantera opal with many small opals sits atop a sterling silver band. Around the opal is a decorative, stamped edge  that is tipped with a drop of gold. 

Cantera opals here have been mined in Magdelena, Mexico by the Aztec people for ceremonial jewelry and offerings for thousands of years. They were believed to enhance one’s natural essence and connect them to the natural world. After the Spanish conquistadors came to Mexico, the location of the mines was largely lost until the 1800’s. The mines here are majority local run, and are all polished by independent polishers in the area. Wanderground buys stones directly from polishers, going door to door in communities asking to buy Opal.
