Hanging Fire Agate Pendant

A large, round shimmering fire agate held in sterling silver, chains coming out from three separate points. From the bottom, a dangling, decorative chain drapes down. Along the chain is a small, sterling silver, sand casted form that encases a faceted spinel. Chain protrudes from the top and bottom of the circular form.

The Fire Agate is from Carvillo, Aquas Calvillo State, Mexico and was purchased in Magdalena, Mexico. 

Spinel is a stone of many colours, and can look like many other types of stone. Its colour variance comes from impurities interfering with the way the crystal grows. It is a very hard stone, easy to cut and will not break. Wanderground uses repurposed Black Spinels.

Sand casting is a very old method of casting using special sand, and a shaped object to make jewelry. The artist creates a carved form to create an impression in the sand, the form is then removed to create a hollow and metal is then poured in, creating a one of a kind piece of jewellery with unique textures.
