Turquoise Mountain Pendant #1
To the right is a bold section of blue turquoise, and to the left is a large piece of dark brown matrix. The two contrasting sections merge together in whips and blunt edges. The stone is held by a sand casted square in sterling silver, that has natural textures and movement.
This Turquoise Mountain Turquoise is repurposed.
Sand casting is a very old method of casting using special sand, and a shaped object to make jewelry. The artist creates a carved form to create an impression in the sand, the form is then removed to create a hollow and metal is then poured in, creating a one of a kind piece of jewellery with unique textures.
