Silver Moon Pendant | Feldspar (Moonstone)

A shining faceted feldspar (Moonstone) held in a textured sand casted form. Circular with a pointed end, glimmering silver holds the feldspar that is so very excited to see the light. Glowing and floating inside the light glides through the stone in a myriad of colours.  

Feldspar is the name of a large group of stones that form deep in the earths crust. They sometimes have light reflecting properties, such as moonstone and labradorite. Moonstone has been associated for many years with the moon and moon deities due to the unique optical phenomenon called adularescence, which is a soft, glowing light that seems to float just beneath the surface giving it a moon-like appearance. This moonstone / feldspar is repurposed.

Sand casting is a very old method of casting using special sand, and a shaped object to make jewelry. The artist creates a carved form to create an impression in the sand, the form is then removed to create a hollow and metal is then poured in, creating a one of a kind piece of jewellery with unique textures.
