High texture, goose emerging from the backdrop of silver.  Sand casted body, with accent wings formed by hand. Sitting between the wings, a robin egg blue no. 8 turquoise with brown matrix.

The No. 8 turquoise mine in Nevada was discovered in 1925 and first mined in 1929. At present, the mine is closed to turquoise mining.
Almost all the turquoise produced was of the spider web type, with the matrix varying from golden brown to black. The colours grade from light blue to dark blue, some with interesting tints of green.  No. 8 turquoise has characteristic colours and matrix patterns that are easily identified.

Sand casting is a very old method of casting using special sand, and a shaped object to make jewelry. The artist creates a carved form to create an impression in the sand, the form is then removed to create a hollow and metal is then poured in, creating a one of a kind piece of jewellery with unique textures.
