Sterling silver, sand casted into a kazekiri (cut by the wind) feather form. A small light yellow montana sapphire has been laid into the base of the feather, flush with the metal. Reflecting light exactly where it needs to, the sapphire is a humble additive to a symbol of strength.

Montana's sapphires, discovered in the late 19th century, are renowned for their high clarity and uniform coloring. Found in Yogo Gulch, Rock Creek, Dry Cottonwood Creek, and the Missouri River, these gemstones come in a range of shades, from light pinks and purples to oranges, yellows, greens, and pale blues. Their purity and environmentally responsible mining practices make them highly valued.

Sand casting is a very old method of casting using special sand, and a shaped object to make jewelry. The artist creates a carved form to create an impression in the sand, the form is then removed to create a hollow and metal is then poured in, creating a one of a kind piece of jewellery with unique textures.
